Defintion of pattern: This is the first pattern in the system, this form should be performed with the greatness of Heaven.

Defintion of pattern: In the depths of the lake are treasures and mysteries.The movements of this pattern should be performed knowing that man has limitations, but that we can overcome these limitations. This should lead to a feeling of joy, knowing that we can control our future.

(Palgwe Sam Jang -- Fire)

Definition: Fire contains a lot of energy. Fire helped man to survive, but on the other hand had some catastrophical results. This form should be performed rhythmically, with some outbursts of energy.

(Palgwe Sa Jang -- Thunder)
Definition: Thunder comes from the sky and is absorbed by the earth. Thunder is one of the most powerful natural forces, circling, gyrating. This pattern should be performed with this in mind.

Twin Forearm Block
Turn to the left (90) and step with your left foot into a back stance. Twin forearm block with your left hand as an outside block and your right as an upper block.

Uppercut
Drop your right hand to your chest and uppercut with your right hand while you bring your left hand to your right shoulder.

Side Knife Hand Chop
Touch your left foot to your right knee and step back down with your left foot into a horse stance. Side knife hand chop with your left hand.

Turn to the right (180) and step your left foot to your right foot and then out with your right foot into a back stance. Twin forearm block with your right hand as an outside block and your left hand as an upper block.

Uppercut
Drop your left hand to your chest and uppercut with your left hand while you bring your right hand to your left shoulder.

Front kick with your left foot and step forward with it into a front stance. X block high with both hands, right hand on top.

Turn to the right (180) and step with your right foot into a back stance. Knife hand middle block with your right hand forward.

Spear Hand Thrust
Step forward with your left foot into a front stance. Spear hand thrust with your left hand, palm horizontal.

Knife Hand Middle Block
Turn to the left (90) and step with your left foot into a back stance. Knife hand middle block with your left hand forward.

Side Kick/Back Fist, Knife Hand Middle Block
Turn to the right (180), simultaneously side kick with your right foot and back fist with your right hand. Step down with your right foot into a back stance. Turn to the left (180) and knife hand middle block with your left hand forward.

Bring your right knee forward and head smash by slapping your hands to your right knee. Step forward with your right foot, and turn to the left (180) into a front stance. Ridgehand with your right hand, supporting it with your left hand at your right elbow.

Bring your hands up into a traditional fighting stance. Traditional round kick with your right foot and step forward with it. Spin back kick with your left foot. Turn to the right (180) and stand in a traditional fighting stance, right hand forward.

Shift your left foot into a back stance. Groin rip with your right hand and down block with your left hand. Your right palm should face backwards.

Step forward with your right foot into a front stance. Spear hand thrust with your right hand. Kihap.

Turn to the left (270) and step with your left foot into a front stance. Double outside block with your left hand forward.

Geumgang - Keumgang 1-25 Moves

Keumgang is the name of the most beautiful mountain in Korea, and is symbolic of the "Mountain Style" of Tae Kwon Do, from which it descended. It is also symbolic of royalty, as the double-wedging block (which is commonplace in this form) is similar to the Korean symbol for royalty.

Koryo
Koryo (Korea) is the name of an ancient dynasty (A.D. 918-1392) in Korea. The English word “Korea” is originated from the name of “Koryo” Dynasty. Koryo’s legacy to the Korean people is very significant. Koryo men invented metal for the first time in the world (1234), more than two centuries before Johannes Guttenberg (1398? ~ 1468), and also created the famous Koryo ceramics. Moreover, they showed great fortitude by persistently defeating the aggression of Mongolians who were sweeping the known world at the time. The application of the spirit of Koryo men into the movement of Tae Kwon Do is Poomse “Koryo”. Consequently, every motion of Poomse Koryo is the presentation of the strong conviction and will which Koryo men, held in check Mongolians, and, therefore, it can be one’s posture of cultivating himself in which he may follow the wisdom and unyielding spirits of the man of conviction.
